Top 6 local summer destinations in 2010

This summer we hit up various places while showing Nang and Kim
around. They are leaving in a week and this is the perfect time to go
over this we did and places we visited with them. Here is my list of
top 6 local summer destinations in 2010.

1) Cultus Lake
Find a picnic bench close to the swimming area. Water is nice and
warm, scenery is sureal, and its close to water slides. They also have
swap meet with tons of vendors selling everyday trinkets.

2) Buntzen Lake
Getting to the lake is through dense forest vegetation and its also
not too far from civilization. The day we went, there was a fire ban
and only propane tanks were allowed for bbq. Good thing a friend
brought over some propane tank otherwise we would have starved. Again,
scenery was awesome and although there was no cellphone signal by the
lake, they have public phones by the picnic areas.

3) Bellis Fair Mall in Washington
The closest big mall south of the border. We had our craving for all
you can eat buffets, and shopping at Hollister, Abercrombie & Fitch,
Victoria Secret, and Target. All my favorites not quite in Vancouver
yet.

4) PNE
We were just there last Thursday and it was a great family event. They
moved some of the tents around like the casino and the pyromania
fireworks performance called Kaboom. I briefly saw Wayne Newton and I
still think this guy should retire. His face was full of makeup I
wished they stopped zooming in on him. It started to drizzle in the
evening for a short period and then was gone. Kyle and Camille were
already asleep by 10:15pm when the Kaboom show started so it is a
little too late if you have little ones. Other than that, the
doughnuts were always good, marketplace jumping, and bouncy castles
for Kyle was fun. Make sure you have enough to eat before going
however because food was so expensive.

5) Beach Avenue
2nd beach is always a favorite of mine. The pool overlooking English
Bay is amazing. We stayed until the PNE parade started on Friday
August 20. Saw all the huge floats and the air/vibe around Beach
avenue is undescribable but I'll try. Crowds were sitting all over the
sidewalk clapping as the parade passed them. Others filled the beach,
while locals continued biking/roller blading in the designated paths.
It was a circus and loved it.

6) Stanley Seawall
We have been around here before but not after the Olympic cauldron was
put it. There was a wedding at that time and they had fencing around
the structure. We walked around the convention centre instead, watched
the ocean-going cruiseliners, and all the way down the seawall to a
stree performer with a ukulele. Kyle and I played around the waterpark
getting soaked but it was so hot that day that our clothes dried off
by the time we were ready to drive off.

Wish we had more summer left.

How to Fix your Car A/C on a Budget?

I didn’t want to fix my car’s air condition system since it stopped blowing cold air close to 2 years ago now. I was delaying it because the initial quote I received was for $1200 after having spent about $200 for a failed compressor recharge at Vancouver Transmission Ltd.
